How do you do a barrel roll in volleyball?

I actually have two questions about volleyball. One inquiring about the "barrel roll" used for digging. Can someone with experience and mastery describe each step and what you have to do to do a barrel roll. I was also wondering how you know if you have shin splints because I have pain in the side of my leg near my shin that hasn't gone away for about a week and a half now but I don't want to go to the doctor if it's just common pain/slight injury to the muscle. Thank you =)

I saw a video on this, a month ago, actually. What you do is get into the position you would to receive a ball. Assuming that you have to hit the floor, make sure your arm never scrapes the floor. Once you hit the ball, you should land in a position where your (for example) right arm is extended with your right knee as close to you chest as possible, and your left leg straight out. Proceed to "flip over" with your right knee still bent and place your right foot on the floor with your hands on the floor. Push yourself up and you've done it! If you want, I could VISUALLY show you how with pics. ;-)

If you are diving and the ball is almost hitting the ground, get as low as possible and jet out using your hips to slide across the court and let the ball hit your arms. Most likely, if you do it right, the ball will get high enough to go over the net or for another team member to hit. Don't slide on your knees, it can cause serious damage. Always slide on your hips. After diving, do a barrel roll or an over-the-shoulder roll to get ready for the return of the ball. A barrel roll is where you roll to your side and have enough force to get up. The over-the-shoulder roll you bring your legs over your shoulder and let your body flip up.

ok...well i cant help you with the shin splits problem...but im a libero so i can help you with the barrel roll...you go down on one side with one leg bent under you and the other straight out. Then you dig the ball and roll (rolling like you would down a hill) then when you get back on to your stomach you hop back up. The barrel roll is the best roll because it cuts out a lot of the shoulder, neck and back injuries that a over the shoulder roll would cause.
I tried barrel roll before, but don't use it much anymore. Maybe I don't play as hard as before now. What I did was stretch the rolling leg and the same side arm to maxium, with the other leg and arm bent, once you dig the ball, you roll through side of your body, should, stretched arm and leg and quickly stand up again.
All you have to do is go to the right. Next you put your left hand over your leg. slide w/ your right hand and roll. That is hard to explain!!!!
