If u were wearing sneakers & socks and were going to play volleyball on grass, would u play barefoot anyway? |
I notice that a lot of my friends who are wearing sneakers and socks will still opt to take them off and go barefoot when we play volleyball on the soft grass in the park. It seems volleyball has become as barefoot as a sport as gymnastics these days! Are you one of those people that just loves to play this game in bare feet? I think that beach volleyball has really changed the way we think about playing the game. When I was a kid, volleyball was mostly played in tennis shoes, but through the influence of the beach, I think that has changed enormously. For instance, I am originally from California, and have always played volleyball barefoot, but everywhere else as a kid played in shoes. Last month I visited some relatives in the midwest , and they had a grass volleyball court. They decided to start a game. It was a cool day, everyone in jeans and lightweight sweaters or turtlenecks. What surprised me was that all my cousins, even though they were in tennis shoes, immediately took their shoes and socks off to play. Volleyball is as barefoot a sport now as gymnastics is. Unless you are playing a competitive game, barefoot is best! My shoes and socks come off almost every time and hang out on the sidelines until I am done. It makes me feel more connected to the game when I play in bare feet too. Having a high arch, I'm prone to hurting my feet when I'm barefoot on hard surfaces. I love to be barefoot when playing volleyball, but only when I'm in the sand. I tried to play shoeless but the bottom of my feet stained and i turned my ankle. I wear shoes now reguardles of the "farmers tan" no I think I wear my shoes all the time because I heard that you could get an infection if you didn't. yeah i would because outside i always play shoeless def.. barefoot is better.. sneakers suck for grass :-) my preference is to play barefoot, but if there are overly aggressive players are on the court with me and they are wearing shoes, I keep mine on. I've been stepped on too many times. |
