Just 168 cm, enough? |
i 168 cm tall, am i too short to play volleyball? It depends on you. If you jump well and do not let anyone tell you that you are too short, you will not be too short. I have a friend that was a little shorter than you that was an outside hitter for a good NCAA DII school. She could not get into a D1 school because of her size. She was an All American at the DII level. If you do not jump well, there are defensive specialists and Liberos where size does not matter. Just quickness and the ability to read the play. Depends on how well you jump. Whether male or female though, a bit shorter than usual You could be a good setter/digger though that's tall enough,i'm 166 and i play volleyball and I'm good at it..lol,depends on your job on the team Height has nothing to do with sports. If you're determined enough to play volleyball, they go for it. Don't let your height stop you from doing what you want to do. I'm sure you've heard of Spudd Webb, Mugsy Bogues or even Early Boykins. They are 5'7, 5'3, and 5'5 and they all had or have successful careers in the NBA. You might be too short to spike the ball but what if you took polymetrics to help you jump higher. Or maybe you can dig faster or anticipate where the ball will go quicker than the taller guys. Use your size to your advantage. Smaller guys are usually faster. I play basketball all the time and I'm almost as tall as you. But I was able to touch and grab the rim of the basket back then. I don't jump as high anymore though since I joined the military, but like I said, determiination and perseverance will get you there. Good luck. there is a girl on my team who is 5 foot. you could play back row as a digger. the only postion height is required is the front row. otherwise go ahead. Personally, i believe that no one is too short to play volleyball because there are so many different positions you can play. If you can jump high and pass well you can play all around. If you can jump high and not pass well then you can just play front row. If you cant jump high but pass well then you can just play back row or be a libero. You can develop any and/or all of these traits by practicing and applying yourself to the game. Your height won't matter. Just prove to the coach that you can handle it and prove to her how good you are. Just to add in a personal story, one of my friends is probably the same height as you [5 feet 1 inch? idk centimeters] and she is one of the best outside hitters I know. She just learned how to exert herself despite the lack of height. She improved her jump and learned how to angel her arm so she could hit it hard and down at the other team. So just go for it! Try hard and practice. Good Luck! personal volleyball experience |
