Volleyballl tryouts?

any tips or drills i could do this years tryouts are going to be tough and so many people are going to get cut.

Competitive teams master six basic skills: serve, pass, set, attack, block and dig. Each of these skills comprises a number of specific techniques that have been introduced over the years and are now considered standard practice in high-level volleyball.

So score!
just really show your coach that you want it...and from the time leading up to tryouts just practice working with the ball alot and work on your handling skills....it will also help to go to the gym and get some cardio and alot of weightlifing in!
work on your serving...and also don't be afraid of falling to the ground to get a dig...they want to see that you are agressive enough to play for them..also just practice everything bumping, setting, passing etc.
Teamwork is key. You want to show the coaches that you are a good team player. Show them that you listen too. If they give you advice, REALLY try to follow it. Coaches like players who listen and alter THEIR ways and habits to learn something new. Be aggressive, (hit that ball hard, dig, RUN (don't walk) when you have to, etc.) and just have fun. coaches are looking for girls who LOVE the sport and want the spot on the team.
Go to the gym over the summer and strength train. work on quick foot work and endurance. Good Luck!
at the tryouts, stay concentrated and go all out. hustle everywhere at the tryouts. now, before tryouts work really hard too.

take a ball, and go inside or out, and set against it. at first very short, and then after about 20 sets, start moving about a foot away from the wall. i went to volleyball camp before tryouts and this helped a lot with my setting and getting me some arm strength.

also try a drill they call number five or something, bump it to urself, and then set it, then bump, set. and then bump to urself alot and set. that'll help alot with your control.

also, to help mvoing quickly, i thought it was stupid at camp, until i saw how much it helped. bend and get in ur stance, and shuffle. and work on ur footwork. at tryouts, i got applause from the coach and everyone cause she said i had good footwork. get a friend to throw balls a little bit back and work on stepping back without crossing ur feet or turning ur back, and going forward. it helps alot to make u move faster.

i hope these helped and good luck. =]
If you want to make them team you have to work really hard. You have to go for every ball, do exactly what your coach wants you to do, show your coach your efforts of your hard work over the summer, be agressive, show you have heart and that you love the game, and have a good attitude. Also, be coachable, OF COURSE!!!!!
if your practicing by yourself you can just bump to yourself and set to yourself and to make sure when your hitting that your following through you can get a ball and hit it against the wall and when it comes back to you hit again and keep going until it gets out of control this drill makes sure that your following through on your hits!!
