Should i quit high school volleyball? |
I have been playing volleyball since 7th grade. I will be a junior this year and ive been toying with the idea to quit since last year. I didnt play my freshman year because i had spinal fusion surgery to correct my scoliosis. So sophmore year i was all excited to play. It didnt go like i had planned. After surgery i had some restrictions on how hard i could condition... and the other girls were really nasty towards me.They would say things like how i dont try hard enough and how i use my surgery to get out of doing things. Towards the end of the season i was basically ostricized. I was set maybe once or twice a match (i play middle front) and no one had anything nice to say to me.After the season i played club volleyball and absolutly loved it. so now im torn between quitting and staying bc i really love the sport and i love being involved BUT i dont know if i can go through the bullying again. vball is my only sport.but are high schol sports really tht important in the long run If you really do not love your high school team, do not go out for the team again. You would then "HAVE" to go to practice. You love the sport, but you hate your team. Concentrate on your studies and you can tell people that is the reason you are not playing. You are not quitting the team. You played the entire season. It really sounds like the team quit you. Play club when they start up. Continue to condition now so that when club season starts, you will be in your best shape. And enjoy the club season. u should not quit don't let the girls bug u its a sport u like don't quit because of the bullying show them it does not bug you and u don't care what they think they want u to quit so if u quit they will get what they want so i think u should stay it if not u might regret it after high school is over but that's what i think but really its your choice think positive not negative if you plan on having a career in vball then yeah high school vball is. i dont think you should quit it all together, just dont play at school. play club ball and love it. hope this helps. <3 volleynug hey, spinal injuries are serious as hell. so, think of yourself first. and since you are not going to further your career in volleyball, stop forcing yourself to play full time for your school. maybe you can still play part time with a volleyball club or something.. Don't let the other girls make you quit. Just ignore what they say. It's really better in the long run if you stay with it, because colleges like "consistency"; when people stay with something. Especially if you love it, don't quit. You could think about just playing club ball though, not being on your high school team. Whichever floats your boat. just continue playing club volleyball and say it was just too much to juggle club ball and school ball and you chose the better one. or, if you're really that unsure about it cause ur heart is in it, continue playing and show those girls that they're wrong. dont let anyone stop you. and dont let them get u down. the moment they take judging you on what you are/aren't doing their way, you go and enjoy it and play the game you love. i play volleyball, and i can tell now that things may be hard for me, but im really in it to prove everyone wrong and show them up. i think u should follow your heart, and you'll make the right decision. good luck, and keep doing what you love. =] If you love to play Volleyball then the other girls shouldnt matter. tell your coach about the bullying. She will talk to the team. |
