Volleyball help . please!? |
i am trying out for my high school volleyball team. i am not the best of all who is trying out. right now we the 3 conditioning practices a week. my tryouts are next month. does anybody have any tips, workouts? anything? please i want to make the team more than anything. there are girls trying out, we play club, so they have the advantage on me in that. i never played. please help anybody have a total workout that will help me. anyone play volleyball who have tips for me. thanks in advance Get into the weight room if u can. jump rope. abs - they'll help with your ups. run to get into pretty descent shape - be able to run 10 min.s @ a pretty good pace. jump on a trampoline for like 15-30 min.s if u have one. wall jumps are really good for your legs n jump - try to do like 3 sets of 50 or start a little smaller if u have too. Shuffle back and forth between 2 lines about 10 feet apart for a minute to a minute n a half depending how long ur legs can take it - try to do like 3 sets of those. N I'd bump the ball just to yourself in lil bumps (No more then 2 feet above your head) cause it helps a lot with ball control. If ur good at it try like jogging around the track or somewhere while doing it. Also do some upper body stuff too... Push ups, n lifting weights. Those things should help a lot. I am also trying for my HS team Im a Freshmen, and ur supposed to go to the summer league if u want to make it which i think is stupid if u can't afford it and didn't know about it....but I'm still going to try out though like u said i don't have as much experience as others, I was on my 7th grade team for middle school and play every monday night at my church....Its a lot of fun anyone can play really...... what city do u live in u could come sometime and play....e-mail me if u want to run laps. and just practice setting, bumping, serving, and spiking every chance u get. i played volleyball for my school. get a volleyball catalog, it has things that u can purchase that can help u practice. also if u have a basketball goal i like to set and bump it into the goal. it helps. well good luck!! hope u make the team! Play 1 on 1: bumping, volleying (and spiking when you get better) with a partner and you will greatly improve your volleyball fundamentals which is what a coach will be looking for. Also try to work on your jump as well as spiking a ball against a wall. I was the caption of my volleyball team. and for our condishing week we bumped the ball eather to the wall or with a friend. you need to work out ur arms so that you can searve the ball and i also ran so i would be ready to move isf i had to. make sure you streach be for you do any work outs. good luck i hope you make the team. set it up against brick walls. pass it too. and buddy up and pepper it back n forth. |
