Volleyball- a good spiking 'approach'? |
alright so ive been playing volleyball for 2 years now and i STILL dont really have the hang of how to spike properly. like, i have the arm motion down and everything, and i can hit it nice and hard if im just standing there, but when i try to actually jump to spike it everything falls apart. are there any good tips you guys have as far as how to make a propper approach (i know its like STEP stepstep jump) ((lol)) and TIMING im really bad at that and i dont really know when to go. i know if i can just get these things down i can be like 3475187243648 times better. You start your approach when the ball reaches its peak. Hope that helps! Other than that, its just practice. have you tried asking your coach for help on spiking?usually that would help.cause it's kind of hard to explain on the internet.because our ways of spiking may not work for you. volleyball player - 2 years and counting i'm bad at timing too. tell you're self to wait untill the ball has reached it's highest point, for an approach try starting with you're right foot forword. it works for me try it ( oh and if you're a leftie try with you're left food first) like an extra step almost just trust me Timing is a very hard thing to perfect but is crucial to be the best hitter you can be. if you are hitting from the Outside position (the left side) leave when the set is at it's highest point. Some people's approaches are different speed so if your late i.e. feel your self falling as you hit the ball leave a little later. If you are early, i.e. just barely getting the ball either take a faster approach or give your self more time and leave earlier. If you are unsure if your early or late ask your coach to watch you the next time you hit or even a team mate of yours. If you hit middle leave when the setter touches the ball and again adjust accordingly. Hope this helps and good luck you'll get it after some practice I play volleyball |
