Volleyball love? |
I love volleyball but i cant set it with both hands because one hand is shorter than the other so is it illegal to hit it only with one hand? any ideas? If you stagger your feet with the foot of your "shorter" arm in front of the other foot, this should give you a little help if this really is a problem. You have to extend your arms fully and use your legs to help you get that ball where you want it to go. Good luck! Source(s): Me-Volleyball coach i dont think so It is not illegal to only hit with one hand unless you catch or lift the ball. A one handed set is supposed to be judged the same as any other contacts. (The key word is supposed. Not all referees will allow one handed sets although they will allow a one handed dink that has longer contact.) JoLeigh has a great answer. You should be able to compensate. It will not be easy. You will have to work twice as hard as any other setter. Perhaps it would be better for you if you were not a primary setter? If you have to set in an emergency situation, you can always "bump set". It depends. It you can set better using mainly one hand and it looks like a regular set then no, it's not illegal. But, if you set it and it reaches your hitter spinning and not a clean ball then you will be called for a double contact. Like someone above said though, you can always bump set. Especially fo your situation I would recommend it because they are usually easier to maneuver for your hitters if you're a decent passer so try the bump set and you won't have to worry about violations. Oh and also, it's not illegal to use one hand to get the ball over the net like a tip, didn't know if you meant that maybe but that's fine too as long as you don't catch the ball or pop it up with one hand from below it, that'd be a lift. i don't know what to tell you, i ahev been playing voley ball 4 8 years(im going into 9th) and i totally suck in setting sorry |
