What happend to the wusa and why dont we have club teams like the men anymore? |
like we dont have the ny power any more and all the others i think we need more publiciity for WOMENS soccer The WUSA folded due to an incomplete business plan. Player wages were overspent for the sponsorship dollars being brought in. Attendance was grossly overstated in projections. Losses mounted to quickly to stop the financial bleeding. A wide broadcast deal never materialized. Sponsors and investors fled the scene before a solid capital base could be established. Fear not, the WUSA will likely be back in 2 years. the business plan is being developed by more business-savvy people in conjunction with soccer supporters this time. The league will be on much more solid ground when it relaunches. Publicity WUSA went under. Not many fans attended the games. Maybe it will come back in the future when all MLS teams have their own stadiums. It is all about publicity and $$$$ this is a great moment to promote men's soccer as the best and unique event that makes this sport feel alive every 4 years is about to happen. So this is a great chance to promote as much as possible men's soccer team and their league. Just look at them it is going to be the only soccer league in the world taking place while the World Cup is being played at Germany Personally I think women's sports are boring although I'm a woman and I play soccer and various other sports. It just doesn't appeal to me. b/c women's soccer (and athletics in general) is terribly boring and really didn't draw much viewer attention. Why would anyone watch a woman's team when they could easily turn on the TV and watch a quality men's team! Plus, men supporting women's sports is just intrinsically wierd to me! Publicity |
