Bud their still exists a women leage in us is it? |
i was wondering now because of i my other question there was said the leuge failed is there still a women comeptition in the states? and does washington freedom still exits? Yes the womens league still exist, though it is not in a professional setting. They play roughly 20 games a year, from other states, to other countries, they don't get paid much, if any at all to play. The Washington Freedom still plays regularly, if you are familiar with the Maryland area, they play at the Germantown Soccer Plex in Germantown, MD. I know that they have a game this week, though please don't hold me to it. I have a friend that is a big fan of the Freedom, so I have just recently realized that the league is still somewhat organized. I also heard rumors that they expect to have the professional league started back up in 2008. Yeah there's still in competition in the states, its in the kitchen as to who bakes the greatest cake. WUSA did in fact fold, and that would include all the teams from that league, Washington Freedom being no exception. The players tried to get new sponsers over the year after the close of the league, but were unsuccessful. There are still amatuer women's leagues, but no pro-leagues. The current US National Women's goalkeeper, Hope Solo, never played in WUSA. In order to get her game up to the international level she played in the Swedish league. If you go to the link to ussoccer.com on the other answer I gave you you can find that story and more. |
